As an operator in the maritime industry, you know that global shipping efficiency depends largely on the free movement of ships and capital, supported by international standards which have to be set, recognized and maintained.
A total of 125 national administrations recognize Bureau Veritas as an official certification body. They delegate part of their authority to Bureau Veritas to verifying implementation of national and international regulations for marine safety and environmental protection. These include such international conventions as Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS), Load Lines (LL), Prevention of Marine Pollution from ships (MARPOL) and Tonnage Measurements.
Proper shaft alignment is a key issue on ships, especially on large vessels such as containerships, bulks, tankers and gas-carriers. Any wrong alignment of the shaft can result in undesirable vibrations, higher operating costs or worse. Damage to the stern-tube bearings or other key parts of the vessel's propulsion
equipment could result in the ship being immobilized.
