Bureau Veritas initiates a workshop between Chinese and French authorities to share experience about the deregulation of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) markets

Shanghai, China, December 3, 2014 – On 27 November, Bureau Veritas organized a full-day workshop in Beijing between AQSIQ and authorities in charge of TIC industry supervision in France in order to share experience about the deregulation of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) markets.

The objective of this meeting was to share key learnings with the Chinese authorities about how France deregulated its TIC market, at a time when the People’s Republic of China begins a similar process in its domestic market.

The workshop was attended by Mr Shan Wei, Director General of Inspection Supervision department of AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China) and representatives of AQSIQ and 15 provincial CIQs (China Inspection and Quarantine bureau). Top executives from Bureau Veritas and representatives from the French authorities who oversee the French TIC market (Directorate General for Enterprises (DGE) from France Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs and COFRAC- French Committee of Accreditation) were also present.

The workshop included detailed presentations about the 40 year history of the TIC industry in France and its current regulation and organization. The French supervision and accreditation bodies shared with AQSIQ about their mission, responsibility and resources. Bureau Veritas provided a perspective on the role of a 3rd party inspection companies in deregulated markets, based on its experience in France and China. Representatives from both parties had thorough exchange on major developments over the last 20 years and recognized the critical role of government bodies in the organization and supervision of this industry in any country.
