ISO 26262 - AUTOMOTIVE FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ASSESSMENT & SUPPORT

Demonstrate the functional safety compliance of your electrical/electronic automotive systems.

Functional Safety Challenge for Road Vehicles

ISO 26262, the adaptation of the IEC 61508 for Electrical and/or Electronic (E/E) automotive systems, is aimed at providing a solution for functional safety issues. Based on a common risk approach, this international standard helps the entire supply chain when dealing with functional safety issues.

The standard takes into account all entities involved in the safety functions of a road vehicle. As soon as a function (at the vehicle level) or an item* (at the equipment level) is defined, an assessment must be performed to prove that functional safety has been achieved.

*- The vehicle level involves functions which are shared between several systems. An item is a system or an array of systems to implement a function at the vehicle level, to which ISO 26262 is applied.
