Marine Electronics Testing
Accepted for Issue of Type Approval Certificates
To remain competitive as a manufacturer or importer of marine electronic products, you seek to verify products that will function effectively over their expected lifetime. You want to work with one service provider to obtain Type Approval Certificates for your products to be accepted for installation in a marine application. Since January 1, 1999, designated equipment to be placed on board European (EU and associated EEA countries Norway and Iceland) ships has to bear a special marine mark of conformity to the relevant technical standards - the wheel mark (see graphic on next page). Designated equipment includes lifesaving appliances, marine pollution prevention, fire protection, engine control, navigation and radio communications equipment.
Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Electrical and Electronic Product Line (E&E) is working together with Bureau Veritas Marine to test electronic products. E&E test data is now accepted by Bureau Veritas Marine for the issue of Type Approval Certificates, including International Association of Classification Societies Ltd. (IACS) E-10, typically used for control, protection and safety, and internal communication equipment.
