Norway Revises Proposed Regulation to Ban Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products
In order to eliminate products that contain hazardous substances from the Norwegian market, the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) proposed legislation in 2007 known as Prohibition on Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products (PoHS). This legislation proposed banning 18 hazardous substances and was sent out for public comment in May 2007. It is now unlawful in New Jersey to sell any tent or sleeping bag that is not classified by the Division of Consumer Affairs as being flame resistant.
