AMHERST, NY – May 16, 2008:  Empire State Department of Economic Development presented the New York State Foreign Investment Award to Bureau Veritas on May 7 in New York City. The purpose of the award is to recognize foreign-owned New York firms for the positive economic, civil and philanthropic contributions they have made to the state and to their local communities.

Bureau Veritas, located in Buffalo, New York, and headquartered in Paris,France, is an active participant in community support activities. In2007, employees of Bureau Veritas raised $39,000 for local charities,including Camp Good Days, Friends of Night People and Niagara Frontier Hospice Foundation. Since 1998, a total of $224,000 was raised and donated to Western New York non-profit organizations.

During the luncheon award presentation at the New York Academy of Sciences, Empire State Development Chairman Daniel C. Gundersen commended Bureau Veritas for bolstering the State’s global competitiveness, creating local value and job opportunities, and for giving back to the community and the employees who contribute to the company’s success.  Ms.Stephanie Argentine, Sr. Director Human Resources - Americas, accepted the Award on the company’s behalf.  A representative from the French-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, Mr. Martin Bischoff, and a representative from the embassy of France, Ms. Francoise Gamet, attended the ceremony as did several members of Bureau Veritas’ Charity Committee.
