On 15 May 2012 the European Commission announced the ban of Dimethylfumarate (CAS 624-49-7) under Regulation EC 1907/2006 Annex XVII. This regulation enters into force on the twentieth day after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. This amendment will make permanent the current temporary prohibition 2009/251/EC for Dimethylfumarate which was prolonged several times by Decisions 2010/153/EU, 2011/135/EU and 2012/48/EU. The new entry 61 of the REACH (EC 1907/2006) Annex XVII is unchanged to the initial prohibition of 2009/251/EC, and states:
