Somalia appoints Bureau Veritas as exclusive Pre-Shipment Inspection Agency

Bureau Veritas and its subsidiary BIVAC have been selected by the Government of Somalia to perform pre-shipment inspection programme on all products imported into Somalia.
This Programme is operational from November 1st, on behalf the Ministry of Finance and the following associated Ministries: Commerce, Health, Agriculture, Livestock, Industry, Marine and Fishing.
 
This nomination was made in accordance with the Decree published on June 2, 2009.
The Decree requires the Pre-Shipment Inspection of all imported products (except exemptions) with a CIF value above or equals to 3,000 USD - in the countries of export.

The Pre-shipment inspection services are intended to facilitate international trade and contribute to the economic development of the country. The objective of the programme is to encourage fair domestic trade conditions, thereby protecting the consumer, the environment and fighting against low quality products in compliance with international standards.
 
Bureau Veritas and BIVAC are certified ISO 9001 and accredited ISO 17020 by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service for Pre-shipment inspection and Verification of Conformity activities.
