IFS (International Featured Standards) Launches Three New Standards
Until recently, IFS developed its standards for two sectors: food products processing and packaging (IFS Food) and food and non food logistics activities (IFS Logistics). In order to cover the entire range of services linked to retailers, IFS created three new standards, which are now available for implementation:
IFS HPC: for household and personal care products (published in October 2009).
IFS Broker: for all companies involved in “trading activities” (having no actual contact with products, published in December 2009).
IFS Cash and Carry: for businesses involved in the wholesale trade (having contact with unpacked products, published in December 2009).
Audits are performed according to the same methods and approach as those for IFS Food the same approaches as those for IFS Food. A checklist of requirements has to be filled in, with the degree of conformity determi¬ning the rating outcome. For those companies operating in multiple business areas (for example, wholesale and logistics), a larger scope IFS certification can be obtained: two audits, two reports, two certificates.
