Contract for Ongoing Certification (OPEX) of Shell Todd Oil Services Offshore Platforms in New Zealand
After a strong performance on the certification work for the new Pohokura gas platform in New Zealand, Bureau Veritas New Zealand have been awarded a five year contract by Shell Todd Oil Services Ltd (STOS), for the ongoing certification of the recently installed Pohokura platform and two existing platforms in the Maui A and B fields of New Zealand.
Moreover, this contract will enable the transfer of Bureau Veritas role from certification to verification, which is specifically provided for under the New Zealand legislation.
STOS has been operating the Kapuni field since the mid sixties and Maui, the largest gas field in New Zealand since the late seventies. It is responsible for producing over 85% of the gas used in New Zealand. This gas, together with condensate, naphtha, oil and LPG represents 57% of New Zealand's total energy supply.
The Maui field is owned by Shell (83.75%), Todd (6.25%) and OMV (10%). The Pohokura field, the second largest in New Zealand, is owned by Shell (48%), OMV (26%) and Todd Pohokura Ltd (26%).
