An 8th position at the Atlantic Cup in the United States
Stéphane Le Diraison, employee of Bureau Veritas and his sailing boat "Masaï", participated in the 2012 Atlantic Cup and ended the race in 8th position out of a Class40 international fleet of 15 boats. This sailing event took place in the United States from May 11 to May 27, between Charleston (South Carolina) and Newport (Rhodes Island) via New York City Harbor.

Stéphane Le Diraison, employee of Bureau Veritas and his Class40 “Masaï" with crew member Adrien Hardy arrived successfully in Progresso (Mexico), after a 5,000 nautic miles journey that began in France early March 2012... thus crossing the Atlantic Ocean in 24 days and 13 hours... with the pleasure to win a 2nd position on the podium of the "Solidaire du Chocolat" sail race.

5,000 nautic miles between France and Mexico during the Solidaire du Chocolat sail race

The departure of the second edition of the transatlantic sail race "Solidaire du Chocolat" will take place on March 11, 2012. The sail boats will have to cross some 5,000 nautic miles between France (Nantes - Saint-Nazaire) and Mexico (Progreso, Yucatan).
Amongst the 10 duos sailing 40-feet monohulls, Stéphane Le Diraison, employee of Bureau Veritas will be there with his Class40 “Masaï” and with crew member Adrien Hardy (sponsored by Agir Recouvrement).

The 2011 Transat Jacques Vabre: 4,730 nautic miles between France and Costa Rica
The tenth edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre will begin on October 30, 2011. This 4,730 nautic miles transatlantic sail race will start from Le Havre, France, at 01:00 p.m. local time. Arrival is scheduled around November 22, 2011, in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica for the fastest. Among the participating boats, some 15 duos sailing 40-feet monohulls.
Stéphane Le Diraison, employee of Bureau Veritas decided to be among them with his Class40 “Masaï" and with crew member Thomas Ruyant (winner of the 2010 Route du Rhum solitary race and sponsored by Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque).

Stéphane Le Diraison and his Class40 racing boat "Masaï" successfully completed the 2,540 nautic miles in the Atlantic Ocean between Les Sables d'Olonne (France) and Horta (Azores) back and forth. The skipper crossed the arrival of both 2 legs of the race in second position, having a global race time of 13 days, 05 hours, 53 minutes and 26 seconds... giving him the pleasure to be on the first step of the podium!

A 2,540 nautic miles race in the Atlantic Ocean: Les Sables d’Olonne – Horta – Les Sables d’Olonne

Stéphane Le Diraison with his Masai boat will participate in the race taking place between the French city of Les Sables d’Olonne (Atlantic coast) and the Portuguese city of Horta (in the Azores).
The start is scheduled on Saturday July 2, 2011, at 07:02 p.m. (French time). Fourteen Class40 boats with two-handed-crew and without outside assistance (other than medical) will participate in this 2-legs race (back and forth trip). After a second leg start on July 13, 2011, the first boats should arrive in Les Sables d’Olonne around July 19, 2011. Bureau Veritas employees wish all the best to their colleague during this competition.

A 1st position for his first race!

Stéphane Le Diraison on his 40-feet racing boat arrived in 1st position during the "Record SNSM" competition, breaking the record by more than 7 hours! The 6th edition of this 230 nautic-miles race taking place in Western France seashore was organized on June 19-20, 2011, by SNSM, the French Salvage Association (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer). Some 10 Class40 ships participated in the event among the 70 boats in competition.
Stéphane Le Diraison stated: "After 18 months of efforts to set-up the project and to have the boat built, it was with great emotion that we crossed the finishing line and won the race in our category, especially since we launched the boat just before the event."

Boat launching ceremony

The boat launching ceremony took place on June 17, 2011, in Saint-Nazaire, France. Many supporters and colleagues of the skipper were present despite the windy and rainy weather to discover the boat delivered by the shipyard a few days before only.
