Promoted by UNIFE (Union of the European Railway Industries) and supported by system integrators and equipment manufacturers, the International Railway Industry Standard IRIS Certification™ is rail sector specific business management system. It is based on an internationally recognized ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard, which includes specific application requirements for rail organizations, in addition to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
The main purpose of IRIS Certification™ is to raise the quality and reliability of manufactured rolling stock, signaling and infrastructure by requiring suppliers to comply with strict and common procedures and enable any rail sector company to meet globally recognized levels of quality for its rail activities.
Bureau Veritas Certification is the first global independent certification body to receive IRIS accreditation from UNIFE.

The Latest Evolution on Railway Standard: IRIS Certification™ transition
The new ISO/TS 22163:2017 global standard for quality management systems in the railway sector has been published by ISO on 24th May 2017.
All organizations certified according to the IRIS Rev. 02 standard shall successfully undergo transition audits to adapt their certificates to ISO/TS 22163. The transition audit shall be completed according to IRIS certification™ Rules:2017.
