Bureau Veritas, the leading Testing, Inspection and Certification provider, is pleased to announce that Travis Norton will be speaking at the upcoming public hearing hosted by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). The seminar will take place on May 16 in Bethesda, Maryland.
Travis Norton, Bureau Veritas Technical Director of Hardlines, Electronics and Smart Products, will be participating in a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission public hearing titled “The Internet of Things and Consumer Product Hazards
” along with other representatives of the IoT consumer products community . This public hearing will consider the unique risks for connected products, review current approaches followed in the industry to address safety assessments for IoT devices, and a general understanding of how IoT products could be evaluated for safe use by consumers.
Travis Norton has been with Bureau Veritas for over 23 years and currently a participating member of the ASTM International wearable/smart textile subcommittee, ASTM D13.50, Smart Textiles in addition to the ASTM F12 committee on Security Systems and Equipment, ASTM F15 committee on Consumer Products, and the ASTM F38 committee on Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will conduct this public hearing to receive information from all interested parties about potential safety issues and hazards associated with internet connected consumer products. The information received from the public hearing will be used to inform future Commission risk management work.
