Any product manufactured before July 1, 2019 may still have an Ontario, Manitoba or a Quebec stuffed articles label on the product as long as the manufacturers, importers, renovators and distributors also have a current Quebec registration.
Any product that is manufactured after July 1, 2019, may still have a Manitoba or a Quebec stuffed articles label, as long as the manufacturers, importers, renovators and distributors have a current Quebec registration.
After January 1, 2020, all products must have a Quebec label and registration.
As a reminder, Ontario has repealed their regulation for stuffed articles and no longer requires manufacturers, importers, retailers, renovators and distributors with bedding, upholstered or stuffed articles to register and license their products as of July 1, 2019.
As of January 1, 2020, the province of Manitoba will no longer require labeling and registration for upholstered and stuffed articles. In the meantime, manufacturers, importers, retailers, renovators and distributors with bedding, upholstered or stuffed articles will need to continue to license and register product as they have been, until that date. Manitoba will allow manufacturer’s to sell their articles using either the Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec label until the repeal of their regulation on January 1, 2020.
