Engineering Services for Automotive

Testing and Consulting to Manage Risk, Drive Qualiy, Protect Brands

business Challenges

Suppliers and manufacturers of products intended for the automotive industry need to be confident that their products meet customer expectations along with the required safety, regulatory and government standards. Non-compliance can run the risk of enforcement under various national and state laws, while poor quality can result in customer dissatisfaction and tarnished brand integrity.

Our Engineering Approach

Our team, made up of engineers from various disciplines, begins with a review of your request to identify how we can best address your problem. Once we’ve defined a strategy, we will work with you to gather the data and put the necessary resources into action. From raw materials to components to full assemblies, our testing and consulting services include but are not limited to:

PRODUCT RISK MATRIX: Conduct a detailed review of products to identify the risks in order to apply program resources to high risk items, determine a test plan, establish the testing frequency and apply quality assurance budgets accordingly.

PERFORMANCE TESTING: Improve product performance and minimize returns / failures by benchmarking the performance of products against user expectations and OEM or competitor products. Product comparison testing provides an independent, unbiased evaluation of a product, measuring the advantages that will help support buying decisions.

DURABILITY TESTING: Demonstrate the durability of a product by assessing it against real life conditions under dynamic stresses, both mechanical and environmental.

MECHANICAL & MATERIAL TESTING: Reveals the properties of a material. Can encompass chemical, metallurgical, dimensional characteristics, flammability, packaging as well as physical properties under dynamic or static force. Designed to ensure that materials are suitable for their intended applications, testing includes methods such as tensile strength, compression strength, impact resistance, fracture toughness and fatigue.

ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING: Determine the effect that environmental factors will have on automotive parts. Our programmable environmental and corrosion chambers analyze components for defects caused by exposure to various elements such as sunlight, high heat, extreme cold, salt spray or humidity.

CHEMICAL / ANALYTICAL TESTING: Identify hazardous substances that may be in components or used during manufacturing to overcome challenges of complying with various regulations. Chemicals can include CA Proposition 65, VOCs, heavy metals, phthalates, BPA, latex, flame retardants, and formaldehyde.

FAILURE ANALYSIS: Address customer complaints or manufacturing defects to determine the cause of failures at various stages of production and provide corrective recommendations. Identifying the complaints and adjusting your QA program to reduce potential failures, increase customer satisfaction and improve bottom line profitability.

SOFTLINE / FABRIC TESTING: Standard textile testing, RSL, leather identification, and motor vehicle flammability for items such as seat covers, leather seats, floor mats, and trims.

WIRELESS & ELECTRICAL TESTING: Connectivity, Interoperability, EMC, Certification, Wifi, Bluetooth and more.

INSPECTIONS & AUDITS: Bureau Veritas has the ability and resources to conduct global Inspections, Factory Evaluation, Social, Safety, and Environmental Audits on your products In front of the counter or behind the counter.
