Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (Rspo) Supply Chain Certification

Prove your commitment to Sustainable Palm Oil with RSPO Certification.

Today, palm oil has become the first oil crop in the world with 50 million tons produced in 2013. Palm oil, used both for food and non-food industries, has a main role in the economic development of palm oil producing countries and in the nourishment of millions of people.

However, after a sharp increase of palm oil plantation surface area from the 1990s to the present day as well as pressures on the environment and on local populations, a global reaction from the palm oil production chain and stakeholders was required.

Using RSPO certified Palm Oil commits your company to sustainability while maintaining a sufficient supply of palm oil without damaging the living conditions of indigenous communities and the biodiversity of adjacent ecosystems.

What is the RSPO?

Founded in 2004, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a not-for-profit association with the objective to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil

Seven sectors of the palm oil industry take part in the decision process including producers, processors or traders, manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, environmental conservation NGOs and social or developmental NGOs.

What is RSPO Supply Chain Certification System?

RSPO Supply Chain Certification System is a standard to certify conformity of supply chains using RSPO certified sustainable palm oil or products derived thereof. The objective is to involve the entire supply chain, by reaching out to the consumer.

Several traceability models are available: Identity Preserved (IP), Segregated (SG), or Mass Balanced (MB)

It addresses millers, refiners, processors, manufacturers, traders, retailers and others stakeholders from the supply chain.

What are the key benefits of RSPO?

  • Addresses client needs and meets their expectations regarding commitment to sustainable palm oil products.
  • Complies with expectations of major distributors and retailers to prove sustainability of products.
  • Demonstrates the quality of your commitment to follow environmental practices and sustainable business.
  • Uses your sustainable palm oil certificate for multiple industries such as food processing, chemistry, biofuel, etc.
